Btw, Sigma y/s lenses can be treated as M42 too - they just need ys to m42 or T-mount to m42 adapter. Y/S mount has the same thread and focal distance as T mount, the only difference is automatic aperture lever.
2. T mount and Y/S lenses are INTENDED to use with adapter, they just can't be used without one, and they were sold by manufacturer already fitted with M42 mount adapter so they are M42 lenses.
Other lenses like Pentax bayonet, Nikon, Canon, Minolta etc. etc. are not M42 because they were not intended to use with M42 cameras by manufacturer.
