I don't believe this is an M42 lens, in fact the Sigma interchangeable mount system sort of similar to a T mount system "y/s", and then because I brought up Sigma? Take a closer look at the design style? That's a Sigma tell, tapered slim focus control...

It is an M42 lens, there were no Yashikor lenses with y/s mount.
Btw, Sigma y/s lenses can be treated as M42 too - they just need ys to m42 or T-mount to m42 adapter. Y/S mount has the same thread and focal distance as T mount, the only difference is automatic aperture lever.

Well then with your explanation then EVERY lens ever made in the world is an M42 because with an adapter attached that makes it so, Autofocus doesn't matter EVERY lens is an M42 because it can be adapted... Ridiculous as it sounds, it is what you stated. "MY POINT" My point is very simple, The way that lens is, it is NOT an M42 mount. "Fact" the mount is and as shown an "adapter" mount. An M42 cap fits nice and snug, it appears to be an M42...TROUBLE IS it won't focus correctly mounted that way because the register distance is incorrect, it needs the space filled by the adapter which is supposed to be mounted (whichever y/s you choose is irrelevant). SO? People deserve to know this is not an M42 mount and actually a mount for a y/s adapter, regardless of your protective defensive opinion that defends things without facts or facts to support them, you just demand you are correct without providing reasonable facts?

1. This lens IS M42 mount. Pure M42, not y/s, no adapter. I know that because I did repair a few of them and also own one.

2. T mount and Y/S lenses are INTENDED to use with adapter, they just can't be used without one, and they were sold by manufacturer already fitted with M42 mount adapter so they are M42 lenses.
Other lenses like Pentax bayonet, Nikon, Canon, Minolta etc. etc. are not M42 because they were not intended to use with M42 cameras by manufacturer.
Plain and simple.

ego rules, is a male superiority trait of forcibly asserting some held belief and then assuming other male tribal members will agree with them over the obvious facts, a primal flaw in males called "weakness"
